My first music video: MALAMBO!

And finally, after a long work, the Colli&Rubini Duo published their first music video!
I shall admit, the work was hard; but how amazing!

It all started with the idea of celebrating the anniversary of his birthday. Martina worked on the Danzas from the ballet Estancia by Alberto Ginastera, transcribing them into a piece for piano four hands. We both felt immediately in love with the Final dance Malambo, so much that we decided to develop something original with it. For us, combination of images and music improves the energy of this amazing piece and is able to engage a larger audience. And this is how it began.
After lots of hours of practice, together and separately and then together again and so forth, we recorded Malambo at the University of Surrey (UK). Sent the music to Marco Cassini, the director, the location was easy to find: ROME! You can see the sunny, bright and colourful Italian city, where two pianists are playing a vibrant malambo. A dancer, whilst walking through the streets, suddenly hears the music and follows it. She eventually finds the duet: captured by the energy and the spirit of this piece, she starts dancing. We see the girl and her intense movements in the crowded Piazza Fontana di Trevi, along the silent, narrow streets of the centre, inside a cafe anf around the Palazzo del Quirinale. Her dance grabs the attention of everyone and the music permeates the air.
The idea of this video relates to the origin of the malambo as a male folk dance from Argentina. In our video, the dancer becomes a female and the countryside a city: Rome stands in for Buenos Aires as the femals dancer for the male ones. It all metamorphoses into a captivating experience where the music activates all the magic.
The more I watch this video, the more I like it. Marco Cassini showed us his professionalism, being so supportive but also so determined. In only one day, he was able to create something captivating, magnetic and irresistible.
Enough talking, now! Happy watching and ... comment here to let us know what you think!
